The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for * A portion of southeast Texas...including the following counties...Austin...Brazoria Islands...Brazos...Burleson... Chambers...Coastal Brazoria...Coastal Galveston...Coastal Harris...Fort Bend...Galveston Island and Bolivar Peninsula... Grimes...Inland Brazoria...Inland Galveston...Inland Harris... Montgomery...Northern Liberty...Polk...San Jacinto...Southern Liberty...Trinity...Walker...Waller and Washington. * Through Friday morning * The remnants of Tropical Depression Imelda should continue to drift slowly north tonight as extremely warm and moist air flows into Southeast Texas. While the bulk of the heaviest rains have moved off to the south, scattered showers and thunderstorms will persist through the early evening hours. A brief break is possible later tonight but we could see showers redevelop overnight or early Friday morning. Given the very saturated grounds and watersheds, it would not take much rain to exacerbate these conditions once again. The flood threat may begin to shift further north late tomorrow as the remnants of Imelda move off to the northeast. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of floods and flash floods. If flash flooding is observed...act quickly. Move up to escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when water begins rising. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
