Tristan Allen, a fifth grader, represented Hempstead Elementary at the Regional Spelling Bee on Thursday, February 13. The regional contest was hosted by Waller ISD at Turlington Elementary.
Tristan, who competed against 11 other students in grade levels ranging from 2-8 grade from Bellville, Bay City, Waller, Prairie View and Hockley, was eliminated after spelling the word squawk incorrectly.
“I am extremely proud of Tristan!” said his Spelling Bee Coach Shanieka Myles. “I look forward to Hempstead Elementary continuing to partake in the Scripp's National Spelling Bee competitions each year.”
